As a 1988 graduate of Canon City High School, Mike is the only student, ever elected as Governor of Colorado Boy’s State. He continued higher education with Trinidad State Junior College and Pueblo Community College, in Public Service fields. He was appointed to the Fremont County Planning Commission and serves various non-profit organizations. This public service foundation added with his diverse, twenty plus years, in landscape construction made the acquisition of Fourmile Sandstone a logical progression for providing the best products and prices for his customers.
Mike’s passion has always been the mining history and industry of Colorado, so owning and operating a decorative stone quarry was an easy addition to the parent company, KrauthCo. Mike says “Our design/build firm, Turnkey Landscaping CO, has been purchasing landscape aggregates for two decades, with in-house ownership of this product, it has put us, in control, our competitive bidding process. We can share the cost savings with our clients, and take the low-bid position on projects we want.” The idea of sharing cost savings has spread to the wholesale side of the business and we are now selling our materials to the competition and the public. Mike says,” When a customer builds something with our stone and it looks good, we look good. We don’t have to do the installation, to pass on the wholesale prices, when we offer it to everyone.”
